The Educational Project

Since the first donations were sent from Italy, when the Association did not yet exist, one of the main goals has been to offer as many boys and girls as possible the opportunity to continue their studies even after primary school.

 

To date, Accanto a Kibera pays the school fees for about 70 boys and girls from Kibera, who would otherwise be at great risk of ending up on the streets, at best doing nothing, and at worst getting involved in criminal activities.

The annual school fee varies depending on the school and grade level, but it is generally around €150 per year for books and school materials, school uniforms, and meals (which is very important as it is often the only meal the children can get during the day). These costs significantly increase if the students are accepted into schools far from Kibera, where accommodation and daily living expenses must also be covered.

 

To date, Accanto a Kibera has also managed to fund the university studies of one young man who is pursuing a degree in Media and Communication outside Nairobi
